What is Permanent Makeup?
-Also called permanent cosmetics and cosmetic tattooing, it is the placement of pigment just beneath the epidermis of the skin. It consists of eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner, and full lip color. Although the effects of aging, surgery, and sun exposure may alter the pigment’s appearance over time, it is permanent. With good sun sense, your permanent makeup can last between 6 - 15 years. Some clients like to have their permanent makeup refreshed every few years to keep themselves looking their best.
-
Does it hurt?
+Although everyone’s pain sensitivity varies, the application of permanent makeup involves minor discomfort. Topical anesthetics are used during the application to make the client as comfortable as possible. After a few minutes, the anesthetics take effect and you will mostly feel a light pressure.
-
What can I expect?
+Immediately following the procedure – some redness and swelling occur on the upper eyelid and lips. It is very rare for eyebrows to swell. The redness and swelling may last from 2 to 4 days.
Up to one week after the application – swelling and tenderness should be gone. There will be peeling of the skin, as sloughing off of the pigment in the epidermis. As the skin heals, the color will continue to lighten for the next two weeks.
After one month – the healing is complete. If needed, it is now time to come in for a touch up to put the finishing touches on your masterpiece!
-
How long does each procedure take?
+Times vary according to the individual’s sensitivity, hydration, density, elasticity, and overall condition of the skin. Allowing time for anesthetics to take effect, implanting of the pigment, and some final fine tuning of the procedure, average time for the initial visit is approximately 1 (one) hour.

Testimonials
“I had been contemplating for months about getting the permanent eyeliner and Friday I finally did it! The only regret I have is that I did not do it sooner! Lexi was absolutely amazing as far as talking me through the whole procedure, numbing me each time I felt the slightest bit of pain (I’m a big pain baby) and not to mention her work all together! I am so pleased with how my eyes turned out! It is such a great feeling to just wake up with eyes on point.”
Maranda M., Cape Girardeau
“I just had my eye liner done this morning and I’m so excited!!! It looks amazing. Lexi was very professional and so friendly. She totally understood how nervous I was and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable. I highly recommend A Lasting Image to anyone who wants permanent make up. I’m going back in a couple of months to have my eyebrows done!! Thanks Lexi for an awesome experience.”
Donna S., Cape Girardeau
“Lexi is super sweet and so very talented! Had my brows done about 3 years ago and wish so bad I’d done it sooner! Easily done in maybe 1 hour total! Lasts a lifetime! Greatest thing is never ever ever having to buy a brow pencil anymore!!! And … After 3 years, still awesome and still in love with my first/only tattoo!!!”
